All In (part 1)

Join Pastor Tim as we continue our "Be Salty" series and learn about Saul before he came to Christ.

Here are a few key points:

• Salt – enhances flavors, changes things; adds to (INFLUENCES); It’s effective.

• Influence is the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of something or someone or to effect itself. • So….to influence is to be effective! To be salt is to be effective!

• Who Was Saul of Tarsus?

- Was born in Tarsus.

- Well-educated Roman citizen.

- Moved to Jerusalem and studied religion under Gamaliel.

- Was a jealous man of Jewish faith.

• What drove him?

- Saul of Tarsus hated the name of Jesus Christ.

• Saul’s mission - stop the growing church and the preaching of Jesus but God had other plans for Saul. On his way to imprison/persecute these Christians, Saul encountered Jesus!

• You cannot understand Christianity without coming to grips with the truth of REAL conversion (NOT A NAME CHANGE).

1. Conversion is a pure miracle that depends on God alone.

• God takes responsibility for our salvation.

2. The worst sinners often make the best saints.

• But not every sinner comes to Christ.

3. No one is beyond the reach of God’s grace.

• If God can save a man like Saul, he can save anyone.

• Your life can be radically changed by God!!!

• Conversion is a miracle that happens when the life of God intersects with human personality. Being good/religious is the not the same - but you have not been converted.

• Conversion = conviction that long-held prejudices can be overcome, lifetime habits can be broken, and deeply ingrained patterns of sin can experience freedom/healing for good!

• Conversion is the certainty that what you were does not determine what you are & what you will be. You can be changed, you can be different, your life can move in an entirely new direction.
