What is the gospel?
The gospel is the good news that God loves the world, that sin separates us from Him, that Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sin and rose from the dead, and that anyone who trusts in Him is forgiven and given new life with God forever.
The word "gospel" literally means good news. The Apostle Paul summarized it as "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day" (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
The gospel is not advice about how to be a better person; it is an announcement about what Jesus has already done. Our part is to respond with faith and repentance.
