Faith & the Bible
How do I become a Christian?
- Becoming a Christian means trusting Jesus Christ - believing He is the Son of God who died for your sins and rose again, turning from sin, and surrendering your life to Him. Salvation is a gift received by grace through faith, not something you earn (Ephesians 2:8-9). More
What is the gospel?
- The gospel is the good news that God loves the world, that sin separates us from Him, that Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sin and rose from the dead, and that anyone who trusts in Him is forgiven and given new life with God forever. More
How do I start reading the Bible?
- Start with one of the Gospels - John or Mark - to meet Jesus directly, read a short passage daily rather than rushing, and ask God to speak to you before you read. A readable translation like the NIV, ESV, or NLT helps. More
How do I pray?
- Prayer is simply talking honestly with God. You can pray anywhere, out loud or silently, in your own words. Jesus gave a pattern in the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13): honor God, ask for what you need, confess, forgive, and ask for His help. More
Why does God allow suffering?
- The Bible does not give a tidy formula, but it is clear on three things: suffering entered the world through sin and brokenness, not God’s original design; God is present with us in it rather than distant from it; and through Jesus’ own suffering and resurrection, God has promised to end it. More
Can God forgive what I have done?
- Yes. There is no sin too big for the cross. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." Forgiveness is received through Jesus, not earned through being good enough. More
What is baptism and why does it matter?
- Baptism is a public declaration that you have decided to follow Jesus. Being immersed in water pictures dying to an old life and rising to a new one (Romans 6:4). It does not save you - Jesus does - but He commanded it, and it is the first step of obedience for a new believer. More
The Holy Spirit
Who is the Holy Spirit?
- The Holy Spirit is God - the third person of the Trinity, alongside the Father and the Son. He is not a force or a feeling but a person who comforts, teaches, convicts, empowers, and lives within every believer (John 14:16-17, 26). More
What does it mean to be a Spirit-filled church?
- A Spirit-filled church believes the Holy Spirit is active today the way He was in the book of Acts - empowering believers, giving spiritual gifts, healing, and leading the church. Practically, it means worship is expectant, prayer is bold, and people expect to encounter God, not just learn about Him. More
What is the baptism in the Holy Spirit?
- The baptism in the Holy Spirit is an empowering experience, distinct from salvation, in which a believer is filled with the Spirit for bold witness and spiritual gifts - what Jesus promised in Acts 1:8 and what happened at Pentecost in Acts 2. It is available to every believer who asks (Luke 11:13). More
What are spiritual gifts?
- Spiritual gifts are abilities the Holy Spirit gives believers to build up the church and serve others - things like teaching, serving, encouragement, giving, leadership, mercy, prophecy, healing, and tongues (Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4). Every believer has at least one. More
Does God still heal people today?
- Yes. Jubilee believes God still heals - physically, emotionally, and spiritually - and prays for the sick in faith (James 5:14-15). Healing is God’s to give in His way and timing, and praying for it always goes alongside wise medical care, not instead of it. More
Church Life
Why should I go to church if I can watch online?
- Online is a great front door, but the New Testament describes church as a family you belong to, not content you consume. Hebrews 10:24-25 tells believers not to give up meeting together. Real encouragement, accountability, serving, and being known only happen in the room. More
How do I choose a church?
- Look for a church that teaches the Bible as God’s Word, centers on Jesus, worships sincerely, welcomes people as they are, and gives you a clear way to belong - small groups, serving, and pastoral care. Then visit more than once; one Sunday is not enough to know. More
What is tithing, and do I have to give?
- A tithe is giving the first ten percent of your income to God through the local church (Malachi 3:10). Nobody is required or checked; giving is an act of worship and trust, and Scripture says God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7). Visitors are never expected to give. More
Can I come to church if I am not a Christian or have doubts?
- Absolutely. Church is for people who are still figuring it out, not just for people who have it figured out. You will not be singled out, asked to say anything, or pressured. Come as you are, bring your questions, and take it at your own pace. More
What does non-denominational mean?
- A non-denominational church is not governed by a larger denomination (like Baptist, Methodist, or Assemblies of God). It is led locally, holds to historic Christian beliefs - the Bible, the Trinity, salvation through Jesus - and typically has a contemporary style of worship. More
